Follow these simple steps to seamlessly integrate your PassKit Membership and Loyalty projects with Mailchimp and enhance your customer engagement.
Notes:
The PassKit - Mailchimp integration is currently only available for Membership and Loyalty programs.
The PassKit - Mailchimp integration for Coupons and Event Tickets are in the final stages of development and will be released soon.
Step 1: Access Integrations
Log in to your PassKit account
Click on the Membership / Loyalty project you want to connect
From the main dashboard, navigate to the Settings tab
Click on Integrations view to access a range of integration options.
Step 2: Choose Mailchimp Integration
On the integrations page, you'll find a list of available integrations.
Locate the "Mailchimp" card from the list and click on it to proceed.
Step 3: Enable Mailchimp Integration
To enable the integration, click the ENABLE MAILCHIMP button.
A new window will appear for the Mailchimp Authentication.
Sign in to your preferred Mailchimp account in this window
Click 'Allow' to authorize the integration.
Step 4: Configure Mailchimp Integration
After successful authentication, the PassKit page will refresh presenting the Mailchimp integration settings.
Step 5: Select Audience
Begin by choosing the audience you want to associate with this PassKit project.
Click the pencil icon next to the audience field to open a selection modal.
From the modal, choose your desired audience from the list.
Note: If you only have one audience in your Mailchimp account, we will auto-select it.
Step 6: Connect to PassKit
Once your audience is selected, a CONNECT AUDIENCE button will appear
Click the button to establish a connection between your PassKit project and your chosen Mailchimp audience.
This will set up a crucial webhook in your Mailchimp account.
IMPORTANT: Do not delete this webhook, as it ensures PassKit receives relevant information from Mailchimp.
Step 7: Merge Fields
If you have a single audience, PassKit will auto-populate three new merge fields: PassKit Tier, Pass URL and Pass ID.
If you have multiple audiences, you need to manually add fields to your list.
PK_TIER: The Tier ID. This field is required for enrollment
PK_PRO_ID: The program ID. This field is required for enrollment
PK_ID: The unique identifier for every pass. Auto-generated and populated by PassKit - do not add your own value.
PK_URL: The Pass URL to distribute to your members. Auto-generated and populated by PassKit - do not add your own value.
NOTE: To access your Mailchimp Merge Fields, click on Audience, then click Signup Forms. If you have more than 1 audience, click the Current audience drop-down and choose the one you are working with. Click the Settings drop-down, then click Audience field and |MERGE| tags.
Step 8: Unique ID Mapping
After connecting your audience, explore additional configuration options on the screen
One new option is "External ID Mapping"
Use this to specify a Mailchimp Merge Field as the Member's External ID
Choose the field carefully, as it can only be set once. You can read more about external Ids here.
Step 9: Pass Events
Below the External Id Mapping field are the "Pass Events".
PassKit enables you to specify Pass event to update Mailchimp data:
Pass Created: Create a Mailchimp Record when a Pass is issued
Pass Updated: Update the corresponding Mailchimp record when a pass is modified
Pass Delete: Archive the related Mailchimp record when a pass is deleted.
Step 10: Adding New Fields
Once the initial setup is complete, you can integrate Mailchimp and PassKit fields.
For instance, if you collect first and last names during Mailchimp sign-up, link them using the ADD A FIELD button.
Step 11: Connecting Fields
Click ADD A FIELD to open a modal
From the modal, select an existing Mailchimp field corresponding to a PassKit field
Simply save your selection to see the new item in the fields section of the page.
Congratulations! Your PassKit account is now seamlessly connected with Mailchimp, enhancing your customer interactions and engagement.
