Introduction

The Pass Designer is a powerful tool that enables users to create and customize digital passes for Apple and Google Wallet. Whether you're designing a loyalty card, event ticket, or membership pass, the Pass Designer simplifies the process with its intuitive interface and robust features. If you're new to the tool, taking the time to familiarize yourself with its various areas and functionalities will help you create professional, polished passes with ease.

You navigate the Pass Designer by using the icons on the left-hand side of the interface. Each icon represents a different tool or feature, and we’ll walk you through each one in turn below. By understanding these tools, you’ll be able to create and customize passes with confidence.

The Pass Designer Menu

The Pass Designer menu is your central hub for accessing all the tools and features you need to create and customize your passes. Here’s a breakdown of each option:

1. Google Pass Designer

Click on this icon to open the Google Wallet Pass Designer, where you can design and preview your passes in real time. The real-time view ensures that any changes you make are instantly reflected, allowing you to fine-tune your design for Google Wallet with precision.

2. Apple Pass Designer

Click on this icon to open the Apple Wallet Pass Designer, which provides a real-time preview of your pass as it will appear in Apple Wallet. Use this section to customize the layout, fields, and visuals to ensure your pass meets Apple’s design standards and looks great on iOS devices.

3. Enrolment Form Designer

Click on this icon to open the Enrolment Form Designer, where you can create and customize the data collection form that your users will fill out to enroll in your pass program. This is where you can design the form fields, labels, and layout to ensure a seamless user experience when collecting essential information.

4. The Field Manager

Click on this icon to open the Field Manager, your one-stop shop for managing all the fields on your pass. Once in this view, you can click on any field to:

  • View and edit field types (e.g., text, date).

  • Adjust field settings, such as visiting and formatting.

  • Update field labels and values.

  • Permanently delete fields you no longer need.

This tool ensures that your pass contains only the necessary information, presented in a clean and organized way.

5. The Design Settings

Click on this icon to open the Design Settings popup, where you can add and manage template details, such as pass names and descriptions. Additionally, you’ll find platform-specific settings for Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes. These settings allow you to tailor your pass to the unique requirements and capabilities of each platform, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.

For more details, refer to Design Settings.

6. Pass Colour Editor

Click on this icon to open the Pass Colour Editor popup. The options displayed in this popup depend on which wallet you’re currently viewing:

  • If you’re in the Apple Wallet Pass Designer view, you’ll see options to customize the background color, label text color, and value text color for Apple Wallet.

  • If you’re in the Google Wallet Pass Designer view, you’ll see options to customize the theme color for Google Wallet.

Note that the background color you select will be applied to both Apple and Google Wallet passes. This means Apple Wallet cannot have a different background color than Google Wallet. Use this tool to ensure your passes are visually consistent and aligned with your brand.

7. Save

Click on this icon to open the Save popup, which will ask, “Are you sure you want to save your changes?”. Upon saving, all passes created from this template will be updated automatically with your changes.

Important Note: If this is a live project and you’ve already issued passes, the updated design will be pushed to all passes in users’ wallets. If you want to test or preview your design changes before applying them to a live project, we recommend using a test project to avoid unintended updates to issued passes.
