Terminology

Status Page

A web page used to display the current operational status of various services offered by PassKit.

Overall Status Banner

A visual indicator at the top of the status page that shows the general health of all PassKit services.

Uptime

A metric that measures the time a service or system has been up and running without any downtime.

Response Times

Metrics that indicate how quickly a service responds to requests. This can include average, maximum, and minimum response times, important for assessing service performance.

Logs

Records of events that have occurred within a service, often used for troubleshooting and understanding past incidents.

Status Indicator

Icons or labels next to each service on the status page that describe its current operating condition.

Status Updates

A section on the status page where recent problems or interruptions are documented, including details about affected services, descriptions of the incidents, and timestamps.

How to use the PassKit Status Page

Access the Status Page

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to the PassKit Status Page

  2. You will be greeted by an overview of the system's current status, including a banner at the top indicating the overall health of PassKit services.

Review the Overall Status

  • At the top of the page, check the Overall Status Banner:

    • Green Banner: All systems are operational.

    • Yellow/Orange Banner: Some services are experiencing degraded performance or a partial outage.

    • Red Banner: Major outages affecting multiple services.

If the banner indicates issues, proceed to review specific services.

Identify the Affected Service

  1. Scroll down to the Uptime section.

  2. Services are grouped by category (e.g., dashboard features, APIs, or regional servers) and listed alphabetically in the following format:

    • Server - Program Type - Call Being Tested

    • Example: Pub1 Membership/Loyalty - Get Program

  3. Look at the Status Indicator next to each service:

    • Operational (Green): Service is running normally.

    • Partial Outage (Yellow/Orange): Some features of the service are not functioning.

    • Major Outage (Red): The service is completely down.

If one of the Membership/Loyalty, Coupons, or Event Ticket services is orange or red, it may indicate that all services within that category are affected and currently down, even if other related services show as green, since they may interact with the affected service.

Review Recent Incidents

  1. Navigate to the Status Updates section, found toward the bottom of the page.

  2. Check for Recent Incidents that might explain the issue. Each incident includes:

    • Affected services

    • Incident description and timestamps

    • Updates on resolution progress

If the incident matches your observed issue, you’ll know the service is currently being addressed.

Use Individual Service Pages

  1. Click on the service name to view detailed analytics for that specific service:

    • Current operational status

    • Uptime history

    • Average, maximum, and minimum response times

    • Logs of any past incidents

Subscribe to Updates

  • If the service is currently down or experiencing issues, consider subscribing to updates:

    • Use the Subscribe to Updates option on the status page to input your email and receive updates

Confirm with Your Application

Even if the status page shows services as operational, test the service in your application to confirm it's working as expected. Some issues may not yet be reported on the status page.

What to Do If You Confirm an Outage

Wait for Resolution

If the outage is listed on the status page, PassKit is already aware and working on a fix.

Contact Support

If the issue is not listed, reach out to our support team at support@passkit.com or use the chat support online with the details of the service and the problem you are encountering as it may be an issue local to you

By following these steps, you can efficiently determine if a PassKit service is down and take the appropriate actions.
