PassKit is a powerful platform that allows businesses to create, manage, and distribute digital passes such as loyalty cards, event tickets, and coupons. If you're ready to get started with PassKit, the first step is to create an account. This article will walk you through the process of signing up for a PassKit account, while highlighting important considerations to keep in mind.

Visit the PassKit Sign-Up Page

To begin, navigate to the PassKit sign-up page by visiting https://app.passkit.com/signup. This is where you’ll create your account and start your journey with PassKit.

Enter Your Company Name

The first field on the sign-up page asks for your company name. This is the name that will be associated with your PassKit account and the digital passes you create.

Consideration

While your company name can be changed later, it’s a good idea to use your official business name or the name you want customers to recognize.

Enter Your Company Website

Next, you’ll be prompted to enter your company website. This helps PassKit verify your business and ensures that the platform is being used by legitimate businesses.

Website or Social Media Page

Make sure to provide a valid and active website URL that represents your business. If you don’t have a website, you can provide a link to your social media page.

Choose a Username

After entering your company details, you’ll need to create a username. This username will be unique to your account and will be used to identify your PassKit profile.

Username Suggestion

Based on the company name you provided, PassKit suggests four possible usernames. Click on a suggestion to use it, or enter your own username in the username input field.

Important Considerations

Username Cannot Be Changed Later

Unlike your email or company name, your username is permanent once set. Choose wisely!

Keep It Professional

Since this username will represent your business or organization, make sure it’s professional and easy to remember.

Avoid Personal Names

We strongly recommend avoiding usernames based on personal or employee names (e.g., johnsmith25). If the employee leaves, the company will be left with an account tied to that individual's name. Instead, choose a username that links to your company (e.g., yourcompanyname or yourbrand2025).

Avoid Special Characters

Stick to letters, numbers, and underscores to ensure compatibility.

Make It Unique

If your desired username is already taken, try adding your business name, location, or a relevant keyword to make it unique.

Enter Your Work Email

The next field asks for your work email address. This will be your primary contact email for your PassKit account. Make sure to use an email address that you have access to, as you’ll need to verify it later.

Important Consideration

PassKit does not automatically enable accounts for non-business email domains such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, or similar. This policy was implemented to prevent end consumers from signing up, as PassKit is designed exclusively for businesses.

If you do not own a business domain email address, your account can not be enabled automatically. Instead, you’ll need to contact PassKit support to have your account set up manually.

Create a Password

The next step is to create a secure password for your account. PassKit requires a strong password to ensure the security of your account.

Tips for a Strong Password

  • Use a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters.

  • Include numbers and special characters.

  • Avoid using easily guessable information like your name or birthdate.

  • Make it at least 8 characters long.

Select Your Data Region

PassKit allows you to choose a data region for your account. This determines where your data will be stored and processed. Depending on your location and compliance requirements, you may need to select a specific region.

Considerations

  • Data Privacy Laws: If your business operates in a region with strict data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR in Europe), choose a data region that complies with those regulations.

  • Performance: Selecting a data region closer to your users can improve performance and reduce latency.

  • Irreversible Decision: Note that your data region selection cannot be changed after account creation, so choose carefully.

Select Your Company Industry

You’ll also be asked to select your company industry from a dropdown menu. This helps PassKit tailor its services and support to better meet your business needs.

Tip

Choose the industry that best represents your business to ensure you receive relevant features and resources.

Agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy

Before completing your sign-up, you’ll need to agree to PassKit’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Take a moment to review these documents to understand how your data will be used and what is expected of you as a user.

Important Note

By agreeing to PassKit’s Terms of Service, you also agree to the PassKit Acceptable Use Policy. Please read this carefully, as certain industries and use cases are prohibited from using Wallet Passes. Ensuring compliance with these policies is essential for maintaining a secure and trustworthy platform for all users.

Opt-In to Receive Emails from PassKit

Finally, you’ll have the option to opt-in to receive emails about PassKit products, best practices, and tips to help you get the most out of the platform. This is a great way to stay informed and receive advice on how to move forward following your account setup.

Why Opt-In?

Verify Your Email Address

Once you’ve filled out the form and clicked “CREATE ACCOUNT” PassKit will send a verification email to the address you provided. Check your inbox (and spam folder, if necessary) for this email and click the verification link to activate your account.

Important Note: After signing up, you’ll receive an email to verify your email address. This step is crucial to activate your account. Additionally, this email will contain your username, which you should keep or note down for future use. Your username is required if you ever need to reset your password or log in to your account.

Log In and Explore Your Dashboard

After verifying your email, you can log in to your PassKit account using your username and password. You’ll be taken to your dashboard, where you can start creating and managing digital passes for your business.

Final Tips for a Smooth Start

Double-Check Your Username

Since it cannot be changed later, ensure your username is something you’ll be happy with long-term.

Use a Secure Password

Protect your account by choosing a strong password and enabling two-factor authentication if available.

Update Your Profile

Once logged in, take a moment to review and update your profile settings, including your email and company name if needed.

Save Your Username

Keep a record of your username in a secure place, as it will be required for password resets and account recovery.

Use a Business Email

Remember that PassKit does not accept personal email addresses like Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo. If you encounter issues, reach out to PassKit support for assistance.

Opt-In for Updates

Consider opting in to receive emails about PassKit products and best practices to stay informed and make the most of the platform.

By following these steps and keeping the considerations in mind, you’ll be well on your way to creating and managing digital passes with PassKit. Whether you’re building a loyalty program, distributing event tickets, or offering digital coupons, PassKit provides the tools you need to succeed in the digital age. Happy pass-making!
