Video Tutorial
To gain a comprehensive understanding of the PassKit Pricing Model and Key Concepts, we recommend watching this informative video. Please watch the video to the end to learn about important considerations and potential costs beyond PassKit fees.
Free Trial
You can sign up to PassKit for free and enjoy 45 days unlimited use. There's no minimum commitment and you don't even need to enter credit card details.
During your trial, you can even go live. Issue as many coupons as you like. Enrol as many members you like. Without any cost. The only cost will be your time.
Monthly Charges
After your free trial, your monthly invoice is based on two main factors:
Platform fee
Pass Volume fee
After your free trial the minimum monthly subscription is US$39.50 per month. This includes 1 username, 250 multi-use passes (membership cards and loyalty cards) AND issuing up to 250 single-use passes (coupons and tickets) per month. And once again there is no contract commitment.
Platform Fee
The platform fee covers the cost of hosting, maintaining and securing your PassKit account, and includes up to 250 multi-use passes and up to 250 single-use passes.
The platform fee is based on the number of team members you have. A team member is anyone who needs access to your PassKit account.
When you first sign up, you'll start with just one username - your own. The platform fee for 1 username is US$39.50 per month. If you want others, like colleagues, to access your account without sharing credentials, you can add team members. So for example, if you add one team member, your account now has two usernames, yours and your colleague's. The platform fee is now US$59.25 per month. For an unlimited number of usernames the platform fee is $249.50 - see the table below.
Platform Fee Pricing Table
Usernames | Platform Fee |
1 | $39.50 |
2 | $59.25 |
3 | $75.75 |
4 | $89.50 |
5 | $99.75 |
between 6 and 10 | $114.75 |
between 11 and 20 | $159.25 |
Unlimited | $249.50 |
Pass Volume
The Pass Volume fee depends on the number of pass records in your account. A pass record is created whenever a pass is issued. This can happen in several ways, such as:
A customer enters their info on a Data Collection Page and registers
Someone clicks a SmartPass link
Your system issues a pass using the PassKit API
Your integration creates a pass
You upload a CSV file with one row
It's important to note that the volume is calculated based on the number of passes "issued". It is not based on the number of passes installed or updated. A pass is installed when an end user clicks 'Add'. So, every time PassKit creates a pass, whether it's installed or not it counts toward your volume.
There are two types of passes used for calculating your invoice:
Multi-Use Passes
Single-Use Passes
Multi-Use Passes
Examples: Loyalty Cards, Membership Cards, Gift Cards, Policy Passes
Multi-use passes are counted and automatically invoiced at end of every billing month.
The count is determined by subtracting the total number of deleted multi-use pass records from the total number of multi-use pass records created.
A multi-use pass record is created every time a membership card or loyalty card is issued.
A multi-use pass record is automatically deleted from your PassKit account 90 days after the expiry date.
If there is no expiry date, or need to delete sooner than 90 days after expiry, the multi-use pass record must be deleted manually.
Multi-Use Pass Pricing Table
Pass Volume | Price per pass |
From 0 to 250 | - |
251 to 2,500 | $0.0450 |
2,501 to 5,000 | $0.0340 |
5,001 to 10,000 | $0.0230 |
10,001 to 25,000 | $0.0162 |
25,001 to 50,000 | $0.0125 |
50,001 to 100,000 | $0.0088 |
100,001 to 500,000 | $0.0042 |
500,001 to 1,000,000 | $0.0021 |
1,000,001 to 5,000,000 | $0.0010 |
>5,000,000 | $0.0005 |
For example, if you have 7,000 loyalty cards at the end of your billing month, the fee for your multi-use pass volume would be $232.25
$232.25 = (250x$0.00) + (2,250x$0.045) + (2,500x$0.034) + (2,000x$0.023)
Single-Use Passes
Single-use passes are counted and automatically invoiced at end of every billing month.
The count is deteremind by the number of single-use pass record created during the billing month
A single-use pass record is created every time a coupon or event ticket is issued.
All single-use passes have an expiry date and the pass record will be automatically deleted from your PassKit account.
A single-use pass record is automatically deleted from your PassKit account 90 days after the expiry date.
For invoice calculations, refer to illustrative examples.
Single-Use Pass Pricing Table
Pass Volume | Price per pass |
From 0 to 250 | - |
251 to 2,500 | $0.0945 |
2,501 to 5,000 | $0.0714 |
5,001 to 10,000 | $0.0483 |
10,001 to 25,000 | $0.0340 |
25,001 to 50,000 | $0.0263 |
50,001 to 100,000 | $0.0185 |
100,001 to 500,000 | $0.0088 |
500,001 to 1,000,000 | $0.0044 |
1,000,001 to 5,000,000 | $0.0021 |
>5,000,000 | $0.0011 |
For example, if you issue 7,000 coupons during your billing month, the fee for your single-use pass volume would be $487.73
$487.73 = (250x$0.00) + (2,250x$0.0945) + (2,500x$0.0714) + (2,000x$0.0483)
Total Invoice
Putting this altogether you get your total monthly invoice.
Invoice Amount = Platform Fee + Multi-Use Pass Fee + Single-Use Pass Fee
Let's use the examples we shared before.
Product | Units | Fee |
PassKit Platform | 2 usernames | $59.25 |
Multi-Use Passes | 7,000 | $232.25 |
Single-Use Passes | 7,000 | $487.73 |

Important Considerations
Expired Passes:
If your pass has an expiry date and has already expired, it still counts as a billable record until it's deleted from your account. For example, if a customer renews their membership, you can update the pass without issuing a new one. However, if the pass is no longer needed, you must delete it from your account to stop being billed. Expired passes will be automatically deleted after 90 days.
To ensure PassKit can correctly identify and automatically delete expired passes, it's crucial to use the official expiry date field key: universal.expiryDate
. If you're not using an expiry date or your field key differs from universal.expiryDate
, your passes won't be automatically deleted, and you will continue to be billed until your delete the pass(es) yourself.
API Usage:
You can make unlimited API calls without incurring extra charges. Your bill is based on pass volume, not API usage.
Billing Cycle:
Your platform fee and pass volume is automatically calculated monthly. So you don't have to commit to a minimum volume, minimum time or pay for passes you never issue. That's why we don't offer annual plans.
Pricing Breakdown:
In the Billing section of your account, you’ll find a detailed breakdown of your costs, so you can easily manage your budget.
Payment Methods:
We accept credit cards and debit cards.
Additional Costs
While PassKit offers a comprehensive solution, there are a few additional costs you might encounter:
Apple Developer Account: To issue commercial passes, you’ll need to upload your Apple Wallet Certificate. The Apple Developer Account costs $99/year (paid directly to Apple).
Third-Party Integrations: If you use tools like Zapier or Make for automation, you may incur additional costs depending on their pricing plans.
Marketing & Promotion: Budget for marketing activities to attract and retain customers.
Customer Support: Consider any costs for providing support, whether in-house or through third-party services.
